Marvel Studios officially announced the cast of "The Fantastic Four" reboot on Wednesday. The film is coming in July 2025 — but who will play the villainous Doctor Doom remains a mystery. But every good superhero movie needs a villain, and it's only a matter of time before fans get news about the team's nemesis: Doctor Doom. We've seen Murphy play cerebral villains before in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy, and "Peaky Blinders" — but truthfully, he's the easy option for someone as sophisticated as Doom. Here are a few other options for who should play Doctor Doom in "The Fantastic Four."

The “Last of Us” and “Mandalorian” actor is set to play Reed Richards (also known as Mister Fantastic) in the newest incarnation of “The Fantastic Four,” the studio announced Wednesday. The rest of his squad was revealed, too, with Vanessa Kirby stepping up as Susan Storm (The Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn of “Stranger Things” as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach of “The Bear” as Ben Grimm (The Thing). “The Fantastic Four” is among Marvel’s longest-running comics series and the titular crew is one of its most beloved groups. When it debuted in November 1961, it was a refreshing revelation that helped inform the Marvel voice and set a path for Iron Man and Spider-Man. The film is set to be directed by “WandaVision” veteran Matt Shakman, with a planned July 25, 2025, theatrical release.

Neither of the weekend’s top new releases — “Wish” and Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” — could keep up with Lionsgate's “Hunger Games” prequel. With an estimated budget of $200 million, “Napoleon” may still have a long road to reach profitability for Apple, which partnered with Sony to distribute “Napoleon” theatrically. “Wish," at least, is faring better than Disney’s Thanksgiving release last year: 2022's “Strange World" bombed with a five-day $18.9 million opening. Alexander Payne's film starring Paul Giamatti as a boarding school instructor made $3.8 million over the five-day weekend. Ticket sales overall reached $172 million in U.S. and Canada theaters over the five-day holiday weekend, according to Comscore.

By the time Scott hit the red carpet in London for “Napoleon’s” UK premiere last Thursday, you’d think there’d be nothing left to say. Before Scott cinephiles have even seen “Napoleon” on screen, there’s palpable excitement about the prospect. Joaquin Phoenix and Ridley Scott attend the "Napoleon" UK Premiere last week. I’m already recceing a film I’m going to do next year after ‘Gladiator.’ That’s the way I work,” he said. Like the little general in his film, Scott marches on.

Napoleon, played by Academy Award-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix, is a talented young officer whose military victories quickly vault him into influence and power. The fact that Napoleon can’t live up to his own larger-than-life image is part of what makes Napoleon larger than life. There are obvious differences between Trump and Napoleon — Trump avoided the draft and was not a successful general; Napoleon was never elected and conquered large parts of Europe; Trump’s coup attempt was unsuccessful. “Napoleon” suggests that our fascination with grotesque populist windbags is itself a source of their power. Napoleon might not love this movie, but he’d surely enjoy seeing his face blown up there on the big screen.

PARIS, Nov 15 (Reuters) - The cast of Ridley Scott's biopic "Napoleon" flocked to Paris for the film's global premiere on Tuesday night, taking to the red carpet just days after strikes ended in Hollywood. Joaquin Phoenix plays the role of Napoleon, a historical figure both revered and criticised in France, who is portrayed in the film as a ruthless military tactician with a softer, vulnerable side, uncovered by his wife the empress Josephine de Beauharnais, played by Vanessa Kirby. "I feel very fortunate the strike ended in time," Rothman told Reuters. Kirby said she learned about the challenge of being "the feminine in that extremely masculine world," and appreciated Beauharnais for "remaining dignified," even through her public divorce. Some of them, like “Dune: Part Two," have been postponed until next year due to the ongoing actors and writers strikes. Gillespie’s film features a freewheeling ensemble including Pete Davidson, Anthony Ramos, Seth Rogen, Shailene Woodley, America Ferrera and Nick Offerman. “Fair Play” (in theaters Sept. 29, on Netflix Oct. 13)Hedge funds also play a role in writer-director Chloe Domont’s drama about sexual politics and gender dynamics in the high-charged, male-dominated world of finance. Eight years after the last “Hunger Games” movie (“Mockingjay – Part 2”) a prequel is returning to the science fiction dystopia of Panem. Francis Lawrence’s film, set 64 years before the events of the first “Hunger Games” film, introduces a host of new characters in the lead-up to the 10th Hunger Games.

I don’t know if anyone has ever clocked whether Tom Cruise is faster than a speeding bullet. He racks up more miles in “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One,” the seventh entry in a 27-year-old franchise that repeatedly affirms a movie truism. That is, there are few sights more cinematic than a human being outracing danger and even death onscreen — it’s the ultimate wish fulfillment! Once again, he plays Ethan Hunt, the leader of a hush-hush American spy agency, the Impossible Mission Force. The whole thing is complicated, as these stories tend to be, with stakes as catastrophic as recent news headlines have trumpeted.

What Would Karl Have Thought of It All?

What would Karl have thought? Watching the stream of Lagerfeld-a-likes mount the steps of the Met Monday night in their black and white, it was hard not to wonder. Yes, the evening’s dress code dictated “in honor of Karl,” the evening itself in honor of the opening of the Costume Institute exhibition dedicated to the designer’s work. Yes, Mr. Lagerfeld had made himself into a caricature, with his uniform of black jeans, high white-collared shirt, black jacket, fingerless gloves, black silk cravats and black shades. Also old Chloé: a remade violin dress, originally designed by Mr. Lagerfeld in 1983, on Olivia Wilde and a remade shower dress from the same collection, revived for Vanessa Kirby.
